Lay It To Rest (Acoustic)

[Intro] Just you and me… Under these lights… [Verse 1] We burned it down like a wildfire stage Now it’s all just smoke in a broken cage Late nights fade, your touch runs cold Every word we had feels worn and old [Verse 2] Lipstick stain on the mirror glass Echoes of a love that didn’t last Chasin’ forever down these streets Now it’s ashes at my feet [Pre-Chorus] Slippin’ through my hands tonight Every color fades to black and white Tried to hold it, tried to stay But it’s already driftin’ away [Chorus] Lay it to rest… this love won’t stay Watch the fire burn to gray Even if it breaks me in two I gotta lay it to rest… me and you [Verse 3] Pictures worn, edges torn All those nights we swore we’d never be gone Promises fade in the morning light Now I’m walkin’ out of one last fight [Bridge] One last look… I turn away… One last word… I couldn’t say… Can’t keep livin’ in rewind… Gotta leave it all behind… [Final Chorus] Lay it to rest… this love won’t stay! Watch the fire burn to gray! Even if it tears me in two… I gotta lay it to rest… me and you! Lay it to rest… Me and you… [Outro] Yeah… Lay it to rest… © Wendell Rocky Adams 2026. All rights reserved.
